Water Treatment Plant Operator

Individuals in this position are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the plant. They ensure that the water is treated properly before it gets sent out to customers by monitoring and controlling the equipment.

Water treatment plant operators learn specific skills and knowledge they need for their role on the job. Their duties include operating and maintaining water treatment plant equipment, keeping an accurate record of plant operations, adhere to all safety protocols and procedures when working with chemicals. They have very strong customer service skills which enable them to communicate effectively with customers about using sustainable products. 

The water treatment plants are usually located in rural areas near the water source. And operators may be exposed to hazardous chemicals and may work in confined spaces. 

To be successful in this career learners must have a strong foundation in science, maths, and engineering. And you must be comfortable working with complex systems.
