As a waste manager researcher, you are responsible for developing waste and pollution reduction solutions. You must make sure organizations and households get proper disposal services on specific days as planned.

Other duties include analyzing statistics concerning local waste levels, recycling, and making appropriate recommendations. Waste manager researchers develop and update policy procedures on waste management. They also make sure that the departments meet landfill diversion, waste reduction, and recycling goals. 

Once students have obtained their studies in this broad field, they can choose to specialize in fields they are more interested in, such as landfill design and management, management of industrial and organic waste, or design of water/wastewater treatment plants.
