Geographic Information System Specialist

A GIS specialist builds and maintains GIS databases. A GIS system is a computer-based method for analyzing and displaying geographically referenced information. These professionals may also be called, GIS analysts, GIS  technicians, and cartographers.

GIS specialists are highly trained individuals that spend their time creating maps that show political borders, rivers, and environmental resources.

 Their daily duties also include entering data such as texts or spreadsheet files of latitude and longitude coordinates, tabular data, satellite imagery, and manual digitization of paper maps or map images.
