For energy efficiency technicians to do their jobs effectively they must be able to read schematics and interpret blueprints. These individuals have a wide range of responsibilities. They repair and replace motors or transformers. They also test and troubleshoot electrical equipment to find and fix malfunctions. 

Energy efficiency technicians work in a variety of settings, and they may be exposed to hazardous materials. Organizations hire energy efficiency technicians to help them reduce their carbon footprint and energy consumption.
